How to Embrace Rain on Your Wedding Day
There’s something about a rainy wedding day that feels unexpectedly intimate. The city slows down, the light becomes softer, and everything feels a little quieter. It creates this space where you can just be together without rushing.
Marissa and Joseph’s wedding day in Boston felt exactly like that. What could have been stressful turned into one of the most romantic parts of their day.
🌧️ Let go of the idea of perfect weather
Rain wasn’t part of the plan, but they didn’t try to fight it. They just accepted it and moved with it.
And honestly, that’s where everything shifts. When you stop trying to control how the day should look, it starts to feel a lot more real. The moments become more about connection than perfection.
☔ Keep it simple
Clear umbrellas were such a small detail, but they made everything easier.
They kept things clean visually, didn’t distract from them, and still allowed the light to come through. Instead of feeling like a backup plan, they actually became part of the atmosphere.
🏙️ Let the city be what it is
Boston in the rain has its own kind of mood. The streets reflect light, the tones get deeper, everything feels a bit more cinematic without trying too hard.
We didn’t search for anything complicated. Just walked, paused when something felt right, and let the city exist as it was.
🚪 Take breaks when you need them
At times, we stepped under apartment doorways and building overhangs just to get out of the rain for a minute.
Those small pauses ended up being some of the most genuine moments. No pressure, no posing, just them being together and taking it all in.
🤍 Stay focused on each other
This is really what makes the difference.
If you’re present with each other, everything else fades away. The weather stops feeling like a problem and just becomes part of the day.
✨ Sometimes the unexpected is the best part
By the end of it, the rain didn’t feel like something that got in the way. It felt like something that made the day more personal.
The quiet moments, the way they moved through the city, the softness in everything around them it all came together in a way that couldn’t have been planned.
And those are usually the moments that stay with you the longest.
